Shahnaz Morattab is a human rights advocate and board member of the Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims. She became involved in the pursuit of truth and accountability after losing her nephew, Arvin Morattab, and his wife, Aida Farzaneh, when Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 was shot down by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on January 8, 2020, killing all 176 passengers and crew on board.
Since the tragedy, Shahnaz has worked alongside other victims’ families to seek justice, preserve the memory of those who were killed, and raise international awareness about the Islamic Republic’s human rights abuses and culture of impunity. She has participated in public advocacy efforts, memorial initiatives, and international campaigns calling for accountability for the downing of Flight PS752 and broader state violence in Iran.
